Website and Journal Policy

Kalyani Sishu Barta is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space for children to read, learn, and express themselves. In alignment with both national and international standards for children's media and publications, we have established the following policies to ensure that our journal and website uphold the highest levels of safety, transparency, and educational integrity.

Child Safety and Privacy Policy

We strictly adhere to national laws such as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and international standards like the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) where applicable.

  • We do not collect personal information from children without verifiable parental or guardian consent.
  • Any submissions (stories, poems, art, etc.) include only the child’s first name and age (if publication is permitted), and no contact details are published.
  • Parents/guardians must complete a consent form for any published contribution.
  • We do not engage in targeted advertising or data tracking of minors.

Content Guidelines

Our editorial board follows a child-first approach with a strong focus on age-appropriate, educational, and inclusive content:

  • All published material is curated to be free from violence, discrimination, fear-inducing imagery, and inappropriate language.
  • We ensure gender equality, cultural respect, and diversity in representation.
  • Content is written and edited to be accessible to children between the ages of 6 and 14, with guidance provided for contributors.

We welcome original contributions across genres—stories, poems, drawings, science facts, riddles, book reviews, and more.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

  • Selected content may be translated (with consent) to ensure reach and understanding across linguistic groups.
  • We aim to gradually implement accessibility features on our website (such as text-to-speech tools and screen-reader support) for children with different abilities.

Submission and Editorial Process

  • All submissions are reviewed by our young editorial team and their facilitators.
  • Content is selected based on originality, creativity, educational value, and adherence to journal values.
  • We maintain a zero-plagiarism policy. Submissions must be original work by the child.
  • Constructive feedback may be provided to contributors to encourage improvement and learning.

Digital Use and Community Guidelines

Our website is designed to be child-friendly, ad-free, and safe.

  • We prohibit bullying, hate speech, trolling, and any form of disrespectful behavior in online engagement.
  • Comments (if enabled) are moderated.
  • No third-party cookies or intrusive data collection tools are used.
  • All digital content and images on the site are protected under copyright and cannot be reused without written permission from Kalyani Trust.

Parental Involvement

We believe parents, guardians, and educators are our partners in this journey.

  • All contributions from children under 18 require written consent from a parent or guardian.
  • We encourage family participation in the creative process.
  • Our editorial team regularly communicates with parents/guardians for permissions and clarifications.

Transparency and Feedback

We value your suggestions!

  • Feedback regarding content, safety, or submissions can be sent via our Contact Us page.
  • Any concerns related to privacy or policy violations will be addressed promptly and transparently.

Copyright and Fair Use

We value your suggestions!

  • Copyright of original submissions remains with the child creator and their guardian, with non-exclusive rights granted to Kalyani Sishu Barta for publication and promotion.
  • Any reproduction or sharing of content from the journal or website requires prior written approval.

Kalyani Sishu Barta is more than just a publication—it's a safe, nurturing space where children grow as readers, writers, and responsible digital citizens.
